AMERICA MEETS EUROPE
Dieses Programm schlägt einen musikalischen Bogen von den Wurzeln der Klassik Europas hin zu den verschiedenen Ausprägungen musikalischer Stile Amerikas des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts.
Durch die dortigen kulturellen Bedingungen und nicht zuletzt durch die Konfrontation mit afroamerikanischer Kultur entstanden dort besondere Facetten von Musikstilen, die Elemente europäischer Tradition mit den Klängen der Neuen Welt auf bisher ungehörte Art und Weise verbinden:
Von, dem Idiom des Jazz, verhafteten Kompositionen eines Gershwin und Corea über die avantgardistische Klangsprache Crumbs und Corbetts bis hin zu, die Grenzbereiche der Popmusik streifende, `Minimal Music` von John Adams und Philipp Glass zeigt dieses Programm die bunte Vielfalt moderner Musik Amerikas.
